Emergency Medical Services

 

As a student in AC's Emergency Medical Services program, you will gain the education and experience needed to work in the field of emergency medicine.

Training ranges from initial certification of new students to seasoned professionals seeking continuing education. Our curriculum, implemented in 2000, is one of the most extensive in Texas. The advanced program is now almost 2,000 contact hours long.

The program currently graduates around 20 Paramedics annually from our on-campus program. Our students also perform clinical rotations and field internships at various Amarillo area hospitals and Advanced Life Support/Mobile Intensive Care Unit Ambulance Services.

You will learn:

  • pediatric advanced life support
  • pre-hospital trauma life support
  • emergency medical technology
  • trauma management
  • patient assessment and airway management
  • advanced cardiac life support
  • emergency pharmacology

Our A.A.S. program is designed for students who wish to earn a degree in addition to completing the academic, clinical and field internship requirements for Licensed Paramedic through the Texas Department of Health.

Our certificate program is designed for students who wish to earn a Certificate of Completion in addition to completing the academic, clinical and field internship requirements for certification through the Texas Department of Health as a Paramedic.
