The Surgical Technology program at Amarillo College follows the standards developed by the American College of Surgeons, the American Hospital Association, the Association of Surgical Technologists and the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
At the completion of the educational program, you'll be able to accept the responsibilities expected of a surgical technologist with entry-level skills and knowledge.
You will learn:
- aseptic rechniques
- surgical procedures
- instrument preparation and sterilization
Completing the 12-month program will earn you a certificate of completion. You'll also be eligible to take the national certification examination given by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCCST).
The two-year program is designed for students who wish to earn a degree in addition to completing the requirements for the certificate of completion
