Paralegal Studies

 

As a student in AC's Paralegal Studies program, you will learn to perform work that requires extensive knowledge of legal concepts. After completing the program, you will be prepared to work in a law office under the direct supervision of a practicing attorney as a legal assistant and will have met the educational requirements to take the Certified Legal Assistant exam.

You will learn:

  • legal research and writing 
  • cognitive skills for the legal profession 
  • bankruptcy 
  • civil litigation 
  • wills, trusts and probate addministration 
  • family law 
  • torts and personal injury law 
  • interviewing and investigating 
  • law office management

The Paralegal Studies curriculum consists of 18 hours of general education courses, 15 hours of technical courses and 38-39 hours of legal specialty courses.
