Truck Driving

 

Amarillo College's Truck Driving program has been serving students for over 30 years. Facilities include more than eight miles of driving ranges and the following equipment:

  • 15 trucks
  • 11 other trailers
  • 3 buses
  • 2 drop decks
  • 4 smooth bore tankers
  • 8 diff. transmissions
  • 1 set of doubles
  • 4 flat beds

As a student, you will obtain a minimum of 700 over-the-road driving miles, gaining a vast number of driving experiences, encounters and situations.

The Beginning Course consists of 40 hours a week for three weeks, preparing students to complete the ten tests necessary to receive a Class A driver's license (or CDL) with all endorsements. Class A drivers work locally driving trucks or buses, making deliveries and distributing goods and materials

The Advanced Courses consists of an additional 40 Hours a week for three weeks, preparing students with Class A licenses over 600 miles of driving experience in semi-trucks.

AC also offers short courses for Forklift Certification and OSHA Certification.
