Diesel Mechanics Technology

 

As a student in AC's Diesel Mechanics Technology program, you will prepare to repair a wide range of vehicles including trucks, buses, farm equipment and heavy equipment. Diesel mechanics often work indoors in repair shops but may also work on vehicles on the road or in the field.

You will learn:

  • suspension systems
  • automotive electrical systems
  • automotive brake systems
  • shop safety
  • heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • diesel engines
  • power train
  • diesel tune-up and troubleshooting
  • electronic controls

The diesel technology program is an 18-month certificate designed to train the technician in entry-level skills necessary for employment in both truck dealerships and independent repair shops. Upon completion, the student can enter the workforce with a variety of specialities and have the needed skills to complete the ASE Certification requirements.
