Industrial Equipment Mechanics

Industrial equipment mechanics are the people who maintain and repair large machines--like a conveyor system, hydraulic lifts and welding arms. Such machines are very expensive and essential to a wide variety of manufacturing processes.

Industrial machinery mechanics and machinery maintenance workers are responsible for cleaning and lubricating machinery, performing basic diagnostic tests, checking performance and testing damaged machine parts. They then must make minor and major repairs, if needed.

How long will it take?

Industrial machinery mechanics usually need a year or more of formal education and training after high school to learn the growing range of mechanical and technical skills that they need. Employers prefer to hire those who have taken courses in mechanical drawing, mathematics, blueprint reading, computer programming and electronics.

At AC, you can earn an associate's degree or certificate in less than two years.
