Campus scholarship

The Amarillo College Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit and tax-exempt foundation, seeks to promote excellence at Amarillo College. The scholarship application is available from November 15-October 15 annually.  Although there is no deadline for applications, it is strongly recommended students apply no later than March 1st to insure consideration for all available funds. Scholarships will be awarded in May and distributed at the first of the Fall semester. The Adult Students Program provides assistance to students for child care, transportation, textbooks and tuition. To qualify, students must be: married/single with children, or economically disadvantaged, especially students age 24 and older, or be responsible for a disabled family member. Call the Adult Students Program Office at (806) 371-5450 with inquiries.

Students enrolled in a declared STEM Major (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and/or Physics) may apply for the STEM scholarship. Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, U. S. citizen, and apply for Federal Financial Aid. Spring 2018 deadline is 3pm, Monday, December 11th.

Outside scholarship

The Amarillo Area Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for different colleges/universities and fields of study, and eligibility for scholarships is based on the student’s county of residence, planned college or university, and/or anticipated field of study. Deadline is generally mid-February annually.

The CC."Bus" and Freda Dugger scholarship is for sophomore college students transferring to WTAMU. Deadline is February 9th.

The Opportunity Plan provides financial assistance and counseling to students pursuing post-secondary education whether at a community college, technical school or four-year institution. Requirements include full time enrollment and 2.5 GPA. Priority deadline: April 1 annually.

The Southwest Church of Christ has established a scholarship to benefit students who have lived at the High Plains Children's Home for a minimum of six (6) months. The Directors of the Children's Home may recommend that this requirement be waived up to a minimum of three (3) months. The funds will be transferred to the recipient at the successful completion of the first semester of the year with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. Deadline is the second Friday in January annually. is offering an $1000 scholarship to students interested in teaching, Art, or owing their own business. Applicants must write a 500 word essay. Deadline is February 1st annually.

Confirm BioSciences is offering an $1000 scholarship to assist students in creating a healthier, drug-free world. Requirements include: US Citizen or permanent US resident, 2.5 GPA, enrolled full time, and above 18 years of age. Applicants must write a minimum 1000 word article on a chosen topic listed on the website. Deadline is December 31, 2017. is offering two $1,500 scholarships to two students attending an accredited U.S. college or university in the Spring Term 2018 and caring for an older relative. Requirements include a 1500-word essay or 2-minute video about your role as a caregiver. Deadline is December 31, 2017.

Payscale has established a $2000 scholarship awarded to aimed at helping female students obtaining college degrees in a STEM (science technology, engineering and math) subject. Applicants must complete the official application, which includes a 300-500 word essay. Deadline is January 31, 2018.

Delta Theta Chi Sorority is accepting applications for two $2600 scholarships. Requirements include students to reside in the United States, have a high scholastic average, show evidence of financial need, and are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college. Applicants also need to submit an application form, with attachments as specified by the National Executive Council. Deadline is February 1, 2018. The Eldon Durrett Memorial Scholarship was established to assist males with college expenses. Requirements include: Amarillo resident, complete at least 48 hours at Amarillo College by the end of the Spring 2018 semester and will be transferring to a four-year university for the 2018/2019 school year. Complete applications must include an official AC transcript, four reference letters, and two small photos. Deadline is February 26, 2018. All applications and documentation should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office, Washington Street campus.

The Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation scholarship was established to help needy Texas students attend college. The Slough Scholarship awards up to $5000 per year ($2500 per Fall/Spring) for a total of 5 years or the completion of a Bachelor's Degree or a total accumulation of 136 semester hours or 36 credits, whichever comes first. Requirements include: completed FAFSA, TX Resident and US Citizen, minimum 3.0 GPA, enroll as full-time college student, high school graduate, and write an essay. Online applications may be submitted beginning January 1.

GoStartABlog is awarding a $1000 scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program and write a 2000-2500 word essay on the topic, 'Writing has given me the opportunity to...' Deadline: March 1 annually.

Smile Marketing offers a $500 scholarship to students working toward their goal of becoming a dentist. Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited dental school or pre-dental program as a full-time student and write an original, 500-word essay. Submission deadlines: March 15 or September 15.

Black Note is looking to award a $2000 scholarship to a student that shares ideas on ways to help smokers put down cigarettes and join the world's smoke-free movement. Applicants must be 18 years or older, legal residents of the 50 United States or 10 provinces of Canada, full-time student, and submit a 750 word essay. Deadline: March 30 annually.

InvestmentZen is offering a $1000 scholarship. Applicants must be actively enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university in any country and submit a 500-1500 word essay. Deadline: April 1 annually.

St. Paul United Methodist Church established a scholarship to assist students to attend college, vocational, or technical school. Applicants must have a demonstrated need for financial assistance, desire to receive a degree, be an active member of a local church and complete the application. Deadline is April 10th.

All Turf Lawn Care is offering an $1000 scholarship to students pursuing a degree in environmental studies, business, marketing, or general studies. Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA, write and submit an 1,500-2,000 word essay and submit an official transcript. Deadline: April 13 annually.

Payscale has established two $2000 scholarships for students erolled in a business or human resources related major. Applicants must complete the official application, which includes a 300-500 word essay. The scholarship will start accepting applications again in February of 2018.

Giva, Inc., a technology company located in Silicon Valley, offers a semi-annual $1000 tuition scholarship. Applicants must submit a 500-1000 word essay telling how you will use your talents and education to make the world a better place and  submit a current resume. Winners are required to perform some community service volunteer work. Deadline: June 1 or December 1 annually. Scholarships will be awarded by August 15th and February 15th of each year. Students can apply only once in any 12-month period.

NewSouth Window is awarding one lucky student a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be full-time, U.S. undergraduate seeking a degree in marketing, business management, sales or related field, must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and submit an original 1,000-1,500 word essay entitled "Green Visionary Scholarship." Annual deadline is June 1.

Chicago Injury Center (CIC) is proud to offer a series of scholarships available to disabled veterans enrolled in: community college, under-graduate, or graduate course of study. This CIC scholarship program will award scholarships in the amounts of $1,000 (1), $500 (1) and $250 (2). Applicants must maintain a 2.5 GPA, submit proof of honorable discharge, and submit a 500 word essay. Deadline: June 1 annually. is offering two $500 scholarships. AmericanMuscle is offering 4 currently enrolled students or high school seniors who are pursuing post-secondary education an opportunity to be awarded $2,000 in tuition assistance towards their upcoming semester. Scholarships are restricted to those students pursuing an automotive degree or related field of study. Applicants must submit a 700-1500 word essay telling how you plan on using your automotive education to incite positive change and innovation within the custom car industry. Deadline for Fall applicants is June 15th. Deadline for Spring applicants is October 15th.

ZipRecruiter is offering a $3,000 scholarship to the winning college or university student with the most creative entry. Applicant must be a legal resident of United States, 18 years or older, enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, and write a 500-800 word essay. The Texas Association of Developing Colleges awards the Urban Scholarship for graduating high school seniors, new and/or returning undergrad college students. Community college students can receive $700 per school year. To be eligible, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, Texas resident, an undergraduate full-time student, complete 16/17 FAFSA with EFC<50, and be a graduate of a high school within 29 Texas cities listed on the web page. Applications must be postmarked no later than July 11, 2017. is offering an $1000 tuition scholarship to future and current college students preparing for a career in the personal finance industry. Applicants must be a U.S. resident, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, majoring in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, management, and others related to the personal finance industry, write a 500-900 word essay and provide an official transcript. American Graphics Institute offers a $1000 scholarship to encourage the use of design and creative thinking. This scholarship is awarded twice annually, in January and August of each year. Applicants must submit a 500-1500 word essay describing how you anticipate design thinking or digital design tools will impact you and your career choice. Deadlines are July 31 and December 31.

Beldon is a specialized home improvement company offering two $1,000 scholarships. Applications must be seeking a degree in business, management, communications, marketing or related field, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and submit a 1,500-2,000 word essay. Adoptions from the Heart offers education scholarships for parents who have placed their child for adoption. Priority will be given to applicants who have placed a child for adoption in or after 1985, accepted to a college or trade school, show financial need, and write an essay regarding their adoption story. Additional qualifications include 2.5 or higher GPA, complete scholarship application and provide transcript.Deadline for Fall Semester is December 1st. Deadline for Spring Semester is July 1st.

The Research Leadership Scholarship program was created to encourage students in various health fields to work toward a future in which obesity can be controlled. Four winners will be chosen. Highest award is $3000. Three additional winners will be given $1000 each. Applicants must write a 900-1500 word essay. Deadline is December 31, 2018.  

The Expert Institute is offering a $1000 scholarship to students in medicine and the life sciences. Applicants must be actively pursuing a degree related to healthcare of the life sciences, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and write a 1,000-2,000 word essay. Annual deadline is December 31. is proud to announce their first annual In-Home Care Innovation $1500 scholarship to be awarded to three individual students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents of the U.S., maintain a 3.0 GPA, and include a 250-word introductory bio with their 500-750 word essay. Essay topics include: how can the healthcare industry improve in-home care, what is the top challenge facing in-home care, and how can your major improve the lives of seniors receiving in-home care services? Annual Deadline is December 31.

The Freshmen Success Fund for Foster Youth offers one-time grants of $1,000 for first time college freshmen students or first time student's enrolled in a TX State Technical College. Grants are awarded in increments of $500 per semester, with the student applying each term and are for basic non-tuition related needs. Application for each semester/school term may be submitted for consideration to DFPS at any time but students are encouraged to submit applications at least 2 months prior to the start of each semester or school term. 

The C. Ed Davis PAL Scholarship is for basic non-tuition needs for former foster youth who are majoring in government, political science, history, or other pre-law field. Scholarships are awarded in increments of $500 per semester and are for basic non-tuition needs. Decisions regarding scholarship awards will be made by August 1 (for Fall) or November 1 (for Spring).
